 Introduction

We take great pride in announcing the unequivocal step taken by the new capable leadership of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Plateau chapter to ensure that the long dreamt of Jos Network Operators Group (JosNOG) becomes reality. The Jos Network Operators Group (JosNOG) is the first of its kind in any States of Nigeria. It is a forum for the exchange of technical information aims to promote discussions on service provisioning and implementation issues that require community cooperation through coordination and cooperation among network service providers, ICT practitioners, ICT-enhanced businesses, and higher institutions to ensure service satisfaction for end users.

JosNOG is a derivative of ngNOG just as ngNOG (www.forum.org.ng) is to African Network Operators Group (AfNOG; http://www.afnog.org). The JosNOG is a pinnacle multi-stakeholder and weeklong activities combining training sessions, conference, meetings, and networking for the ICT industry. It also focused on preparing participants for similar workshops and trainings such as ngNOG, AfNOG and networking ICT professionals within Plateau State and environs with the hope of harmonizing skills/experiences and creating a platform for institutional and/or individual collaboration.

In pursuit of this systematic capacity-building strategy, with support from Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Plateau chapter, the JosNOG 2023 LOC wishes to organize the 1st edition of Jos Network Operators Group (JosNOG) workshop and conference at the University of Jos and subsequently rotate the hosting amongst member institutions. The JosNOG Workshop and conference are intended to be an annual event. It will continue to evolve in content, style and delivery in response to the needs of the ICT operators’ community with the hope of solving our societal and institutional ICT-related challenges. The trainers for the technical workshop will include seasoned hands-on training professionals, ngNOG’s instructors and AfNOG participants. The goal of JosNOG is to share experience of technical challenges in setting up, building and running IP networks and services around Plateau State and environment.
